CJ Foods Promotes Chief Technical Officer Into CEO Role

The appointment of Dr. Gregory Yep to CEO demonstrates CJ Foods’ commitment to science-driven innovation and continued efforts to reshape the global food supply.

CJ Foods, the food business unit of Korean company CJ CheilJedang, has promoted Dr. Gregory Yep to be its new chief executive officer, according to a release from the company.

Yep brings more than 30 years of food science, nutrition and biotechnology leadership in consumer goods and food-related multinational business to the role. He steps into the role from the executive vice president and chief technical officer position at CJ Foods.

He takes the reins of a company looking to reshape the future of food worldwide, and its evolution is expected to benefit from Yep’s scientific expertise and commercial strategy experience, as well as his commitment to science-driven innovation and nutritional excellence, the company said.

In the U.S., CJ Foods affiliate CJ Schwan’s remains a priority growth area for the company, and management of that business remains unchanged.

Yep joined CJ Foods in 2023, developing its global R&D strategy, launching transformative product platforms and expanding strategic partnerships. Before joining CJ Foods, Yep was chief science officer at IFF and senior vice president of R&D at PepsiCo, leading breakthroughs in flavor chemistry, metabolism and ingredient innovation. He also directed the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, the company noted.
