Muskegon, Michigan, Frozen Bread Facility Closed; 171 Employees Impacted
Cole’s Quality Foods has shut down its Muskegon, Mich., frozen bread processing facility, according to local news reports, resulting in the loss of jobs for 171 employees. The majority of the workforce was let go Wed., Sept. 10, but the official closure date for the facility was listed as November 9, according to a WARN notice.
Cole’s was founded as a neighborhood bakery in Muskegon in 1943, although the company was acquired in December 2024 by Furlani Foods, which operates three facilities of its own. That transaction was expected to have closed in the first quarter of 2025.
The former Cole’s North Liberty, Iowa, facility does not appear to be impacted by the Muskegon closure, nor did the news reports mention anything about the legacy Furlani Foods plants.
