Royal Canin North America, a subsidiary of Mars, announced a $390 million investment to build a new factory in Lewisburg, Ohio to meet increasing demand for Royal Canin's premium pet nutrition. The company, which manufactures and supplies cat and dog food, was founded in 1968 and acquired by Mars, Inc. in 2001.

The Lewisburg, Ohio location will join Royal Canin's five other manufacturing sites across the United States and Canada. The company recently announced it was also spending $200 million to expand its Lebanon, Tennessee facility.

Construction of the 450,000 square foot facility is set to begin in May 2021 and is expected to start operations in the second half of 2023, bringing more than 224 new jobs to the area.
