Three Dog Brands Acquires Chip’s Naturals Parent Company

Sept. 5, 2024
Kennelmaster Foods Inc. produces Chip’s Naturals savory, dehydrated dog treats out of its New Smyrna Beach, Fla., processing facility.

Three Dog Brands LLC, owner of the Three Dog Bakery brand of dog treats and a portfolio company of Topspin Consumer Partners, has acquired savory pet treats manufacturer Kennelmaster Foods Inc.

Kennelmaster sells the Chip’s Naturals brand and uses dehydration technology to create its dog treat products. The company was founded in 2008 and is currently operated by sisters Vicki Wagner and Joann Bennett. Its “Doggie Chicken Chips” are Chip’s Naturals’ most popular product, with a thinness and crunchiness said to resemble human potato chips. Kennelmaster products are manufactured at its processing facility in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Adding Chip’s Naturals to its portfolio will allow Three Dog Brands to expand beyond confectionery pet treats into the dehydrated treats segment, explained Kristi Ross, CEO of Three Dog Brands. Three Dog Bakery offers Lick’n Crunch! And Assort“Mutt” Trio dog treats in pet stores, grocery markets, mass retailers and select online retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
