Leadership of Nottingham, Pa.-based snack foods processor Herr Foods Inc. has transitioned to the third generation, according to an announcement from the company. Ed Herr, CEO and chairman of the board — and second-generation family member — will transition to executive chairman of the board effective Sept. 1, 2025, with third-generation family member Troy Gunden stepping into the role of CEO and president.

Gunden most recently served as president of Herr’s for the past six years and has been working for the company for 21 years in various leadership roles. Herr’s expects Gunden to apply fresh energy, deep company knowledge and a passion for the future of the company to uphold the legacy started by his grandparents.

Ed Herr steps into his new role having led the company through significant growth over the years, and he is expected to remain actively engaged in guiding the long-term strategy of the company as a “working chair,” the company said. Gunden takes the reins as the company begins to celebrate 80 years in business, having been founded in 1946.
