PepsiCo to Close Two Frito-Lay Facilities in Orlando, Lay Off 500 Workers
PepsiCo will close two Frito-Lay facilities in Orlando, Fla., resulting in the elimination of 500 jobs, according to local news reports.
The company notified the state of the closures early this week through two separate letters, first saying it would terminate 454 positions at the processing plant this week. Impacted employees were told they would receive 60 days’ severance pay.
A second letter detailed the closure of the smaller warehouse facility by May 9, 2026, resulting in 46 additional job losses. PepsiCo released a statement calling the decision a difficult one, saying it was driven by changes in consumer demand toward healthier snack options.
In June 2025, Frito-Lay shut down its Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., manufacturing operation, and although the number of employees impacted was never officially divulged, some sources said “hundreds” of workers were let go. The report from the Orlando Sentinel points out that the company also sold nearly 47 acres of property in Orlando in June, including a warehouse near the processing plant that will be closing.
