Radar level meter design boosts resolution, accuracy
The new Optiwave 7300 C Radar Level Meter from Krohne, Inc., provides accurate measurement of distance, level and volume of liquids, pastes and solids. The meter's design offers a maximum measuring range of 131 feet (40 meters), which enables it to operate with a larger bandwidth, thus ensuring sharper resolution. This results in measurements that are more accurate as well as repeatable. The higher signal dynamics of the Optiwave 7300 C allow the detection of the smallest level changes and clearer location of the product’s true surface. In addition, objects such as struts, inlets, and ladders, and even agitated surface or foam, have little effect on signal reduction.Installation and set-up of the Optiwave 7300 C are easy, as the user need only fit the gauge to the tank, wire it and turn it on. The device will then run a self-diagnostic test to ensure proper operation. Its Set-Up Wizard subsequently takes the user through a simple series of questions to define the tank and the product to be measured. If no action is taken for more than 10 seconds, a Help Screen appears to inform the user of the next step. The device offers four different types of screen displays: alphanumeric, alphanumeric with tank illustration, alphanumeric with bar graph, and signal screen. The Optiwave 7300 C also features a Device Type Manager (DTM) – a device driver that makes functionality available independent of the fieldbus protocol and also provides a graphical user interface to make process setup and analysis extremely easy. The meter also supports all features of Krohne’s specialized PACTware software package.
