Global Mayo Leader Introduces Eggless Option
Building on its 100-year legacy of blue ribbon taste and real, quality ingredients, Unilever introduces Hellmann’s Carefully Crafted Dressing & Sandwich Spread. This eggless option comes a year after Unilever dropped its lawsuit against Hampton Creek, accusing the company of leading consumers to believe they were buying traditional mayonnaise, which must contain eggs, and less than two months after the FDA settled the same dispute with Hampton Creek and its Just Mayo.
The Hellmann’s brand says it recognizes that a growing number of families are looking for eggless spread options due to dietary restrictions, food allergies or personal preferences for plant-based foods. This new product features the taste of Hellmann’s but is free from cholesterol, eggs and artificial colors and flavors. It is also made with non-GMO sourced ingredients.
Coinciding with the eggless rollout, the company also introduced Hellmann’s Organic Mayonnaise. It is made with organic cage-free eggs and other organic ingredients without artificial flavors or preservatives. Hellmann’s Organic comes in three varieties: Original, Roasted Garlic and Spicy Chipotle. Hellmann’s products are sold west of the Rocky Mountains as Best Foods. Both new lines are available in 15- and 24-oz. jars.
