FDA-Approved Antimicrobial can be applied to Produce During Processing
Pure Bioscience, creator of silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial, has announced the use of SDC as a fresh produce processing aid. The FDA-approved Pure Control product has been developed as an antimicrobial processing aid for direct application on produce to reduce foodborne pathogens.
The solution is applied by spray or dip to reduce the pathogen populations on fruits and vegetables intended for processing. SDC test results show consistent and materially significant reductions in pathogens most frequently associated with foodborne illness outbreaks traced to processed produce, including Salmonella, E. coli and Listeria.
