Nissin Foods USA is launching an instant noodle cup line that contains one full serving of vegetables. New Cup Noodles Very Veggie comes in Beef, Chicken and Spicy Chicken varieties. Each contains a vegetable mix that may include edamame, carrots, broccoli, corn, green beans, cabbage, red bell pepper and tomatoes, with vegetables varying by variety. The formulation resembles the original Cup Noodles, which was reformulated about a year ago to reduce sodium and remove monosodium glutamate and artificial flavors. The on-the-go microwaveable cups are ready in three minutes. They have a suggested retail price of 99 cents.
“We believe in listening to our consumers, and following our recipe change last year, the No. 1 consumer request was more vegetables, so that’s what we’ve done,” says Leslie Mohr, vice president of marketing. “We’ve taken our beloved Cup Noodles product and kept the noodle amount the same. We’ve just added more vegetables. We all know we need to be eating more vegetables, and we’re thrilled to be rolling out a product that allows consumers to do that easily.”
