The idea of creating functional food cookies took shape one afternoon when founder Akiva Resnikoff refueled with a jolt of caffeine and a sweet snack at a coffee shop. He noticed other patrons were also experiencing an afternoon slump. He decided to combine his love of coffee with baking to create a functional treat. After testing more than 50 batches in his mother’s kitchen, he perfected Awaken Baked, a cookie infused with 40mg of fair trade coffee and chocolate. The line now includes Tough Cookie, a peanut butter toffee cookie with 10g of whey protein; Great Full, a sweet potato cranberry oatmeal antioxidant cookie that's also vegan; Snap Back, a ginger and cayenne spiced cookie; and Chocolate Chip Nookie, a rich chocolate chip cookie infused with maca root.
