Unilever’s reputation for paying attention to sustainability is a major reason it’s able to attract workplace talent, according to a vice president.
Claire Hennah, Unilever’s VP of global e-commerce, told Britain’s Marketing Week that Unilever tracks staff engagement in 75 of the markets they serve, and in 54 of them, sustainability was the main reason that staffers chose to join the company.
“It’s one of the core reasons people are joining Unilever. They have the passion to really lead the agenda and have the difficult conversations with retailers, listen to consumers and work with partners,” Hennah said.
In addition, Unilever found, in collaboration with retail consultancy Kantar, that brands that pay attention to sustainability grew sales more than twice as fast as the rest of Unilever’s portfolio.
Unilever’s initiatives on sustainability include climate action, reducing packaging waste, respecting human rights and more.
