Sabra Dipping Co. has tapped the head of a natural cleaning products company to become its new CEO.
Joey Bergstein will take the top post at Sabra, the No. 1 U.S. maker of hummus, on July 8. Bergstein had been CEO of Seventh Generation, a leading marketer of environmentally benign detergents and other cleaners. He has also held executive positions with Procter & Gamble, Molson and Diageo.
“Sabra's portfolio sits naturally at the intersection of better-for-you food and sustainability, two areas of personal passion," Bergstein said in a statement. "Building on Sabra's remarkable success, we have an enormous opportunity to satisfy people's desire for delicious and accessible foods while helping to foster a more sustainable future.”
Sabra has a 61.3% share of the U.S. market for hummus. It makes a variety of other plant-based dips, including guacamole and Dark Chocolate Dessert Dip & Spread.
