TreeHouse Foods has promoted one of its directors, a veteran executive and financial officer, to board chairman.

Ann Sardini, who joined TreeHouse’s board in 2008 as an independent director, replaces Gary Smith, who has been chairman since July 1, 2018. Smith will remain on the board as a director.

Sardini has chaired the compensation and audit committees while serving on the TreeHouse board. She is a financial consultant on mergers and acquisitions and other capital expenditures, and she has been a CFO and executive at Weight Watchers, VitaminShoppe.com and Children’s Television Workshop.

"I am honored to assume this new role at such a pivotal point in time for TreeHouse," Sardini said in a statement. "Over the last few years, TreeHouse has made great strides on its transformative growth journey under [CEO] Steve Oakland's leadership.”
