Del Monte Fresh Produce is offering COVID vaccinations to its employees at its facility in Kankakee, Ill.
The program, which began Feb. 5, is being carried out in partnership with the Kankakee County Health Department.
Employees will be receiving the Moderna vaccine, administered in two doses, four weeks apart, while supplies last. The shots are being administered by technicians from a Jewel-Osco pharmacy. Del Monte is a produce supplier to Albertsons, the parent company of Jewel-Osco.
"The cornerstone of our business approach is to be both innovative and proactive in promoting a safe work environment,” Morgan Tracy, general manager for the Kankakee facility, said in a statement. “This is a tremendous step forward in being able to help our team members while steadily and reliably supplying our customers with fresh, quality products."
