Rizal Hamdallah, who Food Processing included in our Food For Thought podcast a month ago, is transitioning his innovation role from Ocean Spray to Clif Bar. That's according to announcement today.
The Emeryville, California-based company announced the hiring of Hamdallah as its first-ever Chief Innovation Officer. According to the announcement, Hamdallah's appointment is effective November 23, 2020. In the new role, Hamdallah will help the company known for its energy-food products develop products and business models that are "purpose-built and create positive change through food."
Most recently, Hamdallah was the Global Chief Innovation Officer at Ocean Spray Cranberries, which was the subject of the aforementioned podcast, where he led the Innovation and R&D teams to launch wellness-focused products. Prior to Ocean Spray, Hamdallah spearheaded the Innovation Lab at Tyson Foods. In that role, he helped with the company's investment in plant-based protein as well as developing a new product model for reducing food waste.
