Califia Farms, a maker of plant-based milks and other products, has tapped a veteran of better-for-you foods as its new CEO.

Dave Ritterbush, president and CEO of Quest Nutrition, will take over from company founder Greg Steltenpohl, who will remain as an executive director.

During Ritterbush’s tenure at Quest, it was acquired by Simply Good Foods Co. in a $1 billion deal. Before that, he served as CEO of Popchips, a better-for-you snack company, and Premier Nutrition Corp., makers of Power Bar. He also has had executive positions with Red Bull North America and with Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream.

"With Califia's innovation and commitment to helping people and the planet, there is endless potential for continued growth, especially as an increasing number of consumers seek plant-based options," Ritterbush said in a statement.

Califia Farms markets plant-based milks, creamers, yogurts and cold-brew coffees. In January, it raised $225 million in financing to fund further growth.
