Seafood Analogue Company Hires New CEO

Gathered Foods, the makers of Good Catch plant-based analogue seafood, has announced the hiring of Christine Mei as CEO.
Gathered Foods, the makers of Good Catch plant-based analogue seafood, has announced the hiring of Christine Mei as CEO. Mei will replace Chris Kerr, Gathered Foods’ co-founder, who will remain as executive chairman.

Mei has worked for CPG and other companies including Beiersdorf, Royal Philips, Coca-Cola, Nike and Procter & Gamble. Most recently, she has been an investor and mentor for SKU, a CPG accelerator based in Austin, Texas, where she advised start-up companies.

“I'm so energized about the tremendous potential for the Good Catch brand. In fact, the future of the entire plant-based food industry is on a trajectory of positive disruption,” Mei said in a statement. “It's both humbling and exhilarating to be able to amplify social impact through purposeful innovation in the plant-based seafood space.”

Gathered Foods has made several recent bold moves, including: securing $36.8 million in a new financing round; obtaining a joint distribution venture with Bumble Bee Foods; getting endorsements from celebrities Woody Harrelson, Shailene Woodley, Paris Hilton and Lance Bass; and coming out with a new line of frozen foods.
