J.M. Smucker has hired its first-ever chief operating officer, an executive from Procter & Gamble.
John Brase will take over as Smucker’s COO in April 13. Brase is the vice president and general manager of Procter & Gamble’s North American Family Care unit. He will have strategic oversight over the company's three U.S. business segments (pet food & pet snacks, coffee, consumer foods) as well as its away from home, operations and supply chain functions, reporting to president and CEO Mark Smucker.
“John is an extremely talented and accomplished leader who brings a proven track record of delivering growth to the businesses he has overseen,” Smucker said in a statement. “Importantly, John has already displayed an understanding of our unique culture and a desire to enhance the positive impact we have on all our constituents.”
Smucker announced last fall that it was establishing a COO position, which was part of a general shakeup of its executive ranks.
