According to news reports, Munster, Ind.-based meat processor Land O’Frost is closing its Chicago processing plant, citing a WARN notice filed in the state of Illinois. The closure will cost 215 employees their jobs at the facility, which is located in the Pullman neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
The plant produces beef, turkey, and pork products under the DaBecca Natural Foods brand, which Land O’Frost acquired two years ago. The shutdown of the facility is slated to begin in June and continue through the end of the year. The company told news outlets it was prepared to assist employees through severance packages.
