According to an announcement from the office of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Cargill will open a new digital hub in Atlanta and hire up to 400 highly skilled tech and engineering workers. Cargill said in its own release that it “aims to revolutionize the industry with digital solutions that can power the global food supply chain and drive sustainability.”
The Atlanta hub will initially house Cargill’s digital tech and data division, and the Minnesota-based food giant will look to fill roles in data engineering, generative artificial intelligence, SAP, and other critical fields over the next few years. The hub is anticipated to open in Fall 2024, but hiring is already under way.
Cargill’s chief information and digital officer, Jennifer Hartsock, said in the company’s release that Atlanta’s presence as a “thriving tech innovation hub,” and its “rich pool of technical talent” were the main draws for the company — expertise that will drive the company’s digital transformation.
“Employees working at this facility will help create digital solutions that power our global food supply chain, harness analytics and artificial intelligence to open new markets, and drive technical innovation to make our food system more sustainable and accessible,” she said.
Brian Sikes, Cargill board chair and CEO, added in the governor’s announcement that the new Atlanta office hub would allow Cargill to “harness the immense potential of digital technology to drive our business forward.”
