The employees declined to relocate from Dakota Dunes to Springdale, Ark., headquarters, as part of a consolidation; includes the group president of fresh meats.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice, Tyson Foods will formally terminate the jobs of 262 employees who declined to relocate from the Dakota Dunes, S.D., corporate office around July 31, 2023.

The positions are mostly white-collar positions up and down the organization chart, including all types of workers from administrative assistants to engineers, senior vice presidents and the group president of fresh meats position.

Tyson announced the consolidation of its Dakota Dunes, Chicago and Downers Grove, Ill., offices to its global corporate headquarters in Springdale, Ark., in October 2022. It offered relocation assistance to workers who were willing to make the move to Arkansas, and media have reported that numerous employees chose to leave the company rather than relocate.

These 262 employees were not part of any collective bargaining agreement, the WARN notice states, and will receive a severance varying by tenure and job grade.
