Juice, Beverage Processor Suja Life Appoints New CEO

Feb. 19, 2024
Sapporo-Stone Brewing Co. CEO Maria Stipp will take over for the retiring Bob DeBorde.

Suja Life, a manufacturer and marketer of plant-based, better-for-you cold-pressed juices and related beverages, has appointed Maria Stipp as its new CEO effective Feb. 20, 2024, according to a release distributed by parent company Paine Schwartz Partners. Suja Life itself is the parent company of Suja Organic and Vive Organic.

Stipp takes the reins from Bob DeBorde, who is retiring but will remain active as chair of the board of directors for the company.

Stipp joins Suja Life from Sapporo-Stone Brewing Co., where she served as CEO. She has previously managed the Stone Brewing business, doubling its size and shepherding it through its sale to Sapporo in 2022. Prior to that, Stipp had been CEO of Lagunitas Brewing Co.

DeBorde is retiring after nearly five years as CEO of the company, driving its growth and profitability, and overseeing the 2022 acquisition of Vive Organic (and the subsequent creation of Suja Life, under which the two brands sit). Suja Organic offers organic, non-GMO, cold-pressed juices and beverages, while Vive Organic produces cold-pressed and plant-powered 2-oz., ready-to-drink wellness shots.
