BioMADE, a consortium partially funded by the Dept. of Defense to foster the development of biomanufacturing technologies, has hired Jill Zullo as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Zullo joins BioMADE (for Bioindustrial Manufacturing And Design Ecosystem) from Cargill, where she spent nearly three decades developing new technologies, from foods to more industrial biotech innovations. Most recently, she served as the interim president & CEO of NatureWorks, a Cargill joint venture that led the biomanufacturing development of Ingeo polylactic acid (PLA), a biobased suite of plastics and fibers to replace fossil-based materials.

BioMADE is a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) sponsored by the U.S. Dept. of Defense. It is also a member of Manufacturing USA, a national network created to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing.
