Hormel Foods Corp. Chairman, President, CEO Snee Will Retire in October 2025

Jan. 14, 2025
Hormel has begun searching for a successor for the 36-year company veteran, considering both internal and external candidates.

Hormel Foods Corp. has announced the retirement plans of James Snee, chairman of the board, president and CEO. After 36 years with the company, Snee will retire at the end of fiscal 2025 (end of October).

Hormel’s board has begun its search for a successor, and the company noted that it will benefit from its existing CEO succession process to identify the right person, whether internal or external. Snee has agreed to serve as strategic advisor to the board for 18 months after the fiscal year ends.

Snee spent eight years in the CEO role, and under his leadership, the company acquired Planters snacks, the Fontanini foodservice business and the South America-focused Ceratti brand. Snee also was responsible for the reorganization of Hormel Foods Corp.’s operating model for greater consumer and customer focus, as well as the “Transform & Modernize” initiative.

The release noted that Snee remains a candidate for election to the board at its 2025 annual stockholders meeting on Jan. 28, 2025. If elected, the company noted, he will be expected to serve as a director until a successor assumes his executive roles.
