Rubix Foods Names Ryan Smith CEO

He leaves Ajinomoto to head the custom product developer.
Aug. 4, 2025

Rubix Foods, part ingredient supplier and part custom product developer, today named Ryan Smith its chief executive officer. Smith brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the flavor and ingredient sector.

He most recently was chief growth officer and executive vice president at Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition, where he led a team of more than 400 employees and oversaw a portfolio across North America’s Food Ingredients and Animal Nutrition divisions. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Kerry Group.

Smith’s appointment follows Rubix Foods’ April recapitalization by Arbor Investments. Arbor acquired Rubix, Jacksonville, Fla., in 2019 and executed a transformation of the business with significant investments in people, facilities, brand, R&D infrastructure and new product development capabilities. Rubix was founded in 1999 by Chairman and co-CEO Gregory Purcell.
