J. Skinner Baking Names New CEO and CCO

David Kowal will be the chief executive officer, while David Meltzer will take on the chief commercial officer role for the baking processor.

J. Skinner Baking has appointed David Kowal to be its chief executive officer and David Meltzer to be its chief commercial officer, according to a release from the company.

Kowal joins J. Skinner after serving as CEO of BrightPet Nutritional Group, a branded, private-label and co-manufacturing pet food processor. He has also held leadership roles at Dawn Food Products, Champion Foods and Distant Lands Coffee in his career. He noted in the announcement that he would focus on accelerating innovation, deepening the company’s market impact for growth and “fostering a culture where bold ideas thrive.”

Meltzer will lead all customer-facing functions as the chief commercial officer, and he brings experience in senior roles at Teasdale Foods Inc. and Pre Brands to his new job.

J. Skinner is an Omaha, Neb., manufacturer of artisan baked goods such as danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, brownies and bars, sold through in-store bakeries, foodservice providers and co-packing partnerships.
