Mohammed Abbas Promoted to President/COO of Fresh Del Monte Produce
Mohammed Abbas has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. He had been an executive vice president and COO since 2022.
Since 2007, Abbas has held a number of leadership positions in the company, starting as general manager of Del Monte Foods UAE (United Arab Emirates), then GM of Del Monte Saudi Arabia, ultimately senior vice president of the company’s Asia Pacific and Middle East region.
In all, he has more than 20 years of experience in agriculture, farming and fresh produce production in the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
In its most recent financial report, for the nine months ending Sept. 26, Fresh Del Monte Produce sales were $3.303 billion, up 1.3% from the earlier nine-month period. Net income was $59 million, down from $122 million and following a $29 million loss in the third quarter.
