Sugar Foods Acquires Concord Foods

March 11, 2024
The two processors manufacture a wide variety of food products for retail, foodservice and private label customers, from candy apple kits to crunchy toppings and beverage ingredients.

Concord Foods, a producer of a variety of retail and foodservice food products, has been acquired by Sugar Foods, a processor that serves foodservice, grocery, retail and restaurant brands with its own variety of branded and private-label food products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Concord Foods supplies custom ingredients and retail food products, including candy apple kits and seasoning mixes for retail consumers, who also use Concord’s products to glaze pies, create guacamole and batter onion rings, the company’s web site states. Its 255,000-sq.-ft., Brockton, Mass., processing facility is included in the acquisition, as well as the company’s brands, including Concord Fresh Success, Simply Concord, Italia Garden, Oringer and RedEMade.

Sugar Foods see new market development opportunities ahead post-acquisition, including its Fresh Gourmet division, where the Concord family of brands will be housed, according to the release.

Sugar Foods’ brands include Fresh Gourmet, Mrs. Cubbison and N’Joy, and the company also produces private-label and licensed products. The release notes that the company produces crunchy toppings, croutons, beverage ingredients, pizza toppings and more. It has four facilities in the U.S and Mexico and employs more than 1,400 people.
