Simplot plant expansion adds jobs

July 29, 2004
J.R. Simplot's Othello, Wash., potato processing plant plans to add a hash brown hand-packing operation that will add 40 to 50 jobs to the plant, which already employs about 500 people.

Construction on the $2 million addition will start in July and should be completed by October.
Workers will place hash browns in plastic trays for a product to be sold in the export market. The expansion comes on the heels of the closing of a Simplot potato processing plant in Hermiston, Wash.
