Hershey and Quaker Top Customer Satisfaction Index

Dec. 20, 2022
Coca-Cola is No. 1 in the soft drink list; Constellation leads the beer list.

Hershey and Quaker Foods remain atop the food manufacturing category of the American Customer Satisfaction Index, with Coca-Cola leading a separate soft drinks list and Constellation Brands topping the beer list.

Hershey and Quaker, the latter a PepsiCo brand, each improved 1% in the 2022 ranking to an ACSI score of 83. Down 1% to 81, the group of smaller food makers was next, followed by Dole, which rose 1% to 80. General Mills slid 2% to 79.

Four companies scored 78: Ferrero (unchanged), Kellogg (unchanged), Mars (down 5%), and Tyson (up 3%). At the bottom, Campbell (down 3%) and Conagra (up 3%) both scored 77, while Kraft Heinz tumbled 5% to 76.

For more than 25 years, ACSI has measured customer satisfaction with more than 400 companies in 47 industries and 10 economic sectors. Reported on a scale of 0 to 100, scores are based on data from interviews with roughly 500,000 customers annually.

Coca-Cola was at the bottom of the soft drinks list last year, but it gained 6% to achieve an ACSI score of 82. The group of smaller soft drink makers was unchanged at 81 and shares second place with Keurig Dr Pepper, which improved 3% year over year. PepsiCo had a stable score of 78.

In the beer list, the collective group of smaller breweries – including brands like Samuel Adams and Yuengling, and numerous craft labels – remained in first place with an unchanged ACSI score of 82. Among the big brewers, ACSI newcomer Constellation Brands led the way at 81, followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev, which improved 1% to 79, and Molson Coors, which inched up 1% to 78.
