Conecuh Sausage will invest nearly $58 million to open a second production facility in Alabama, to meet growing demand for the state’s beloved hickory smoked sausage brand, according to an announcement from the office of Gov. Kay Ivey.

Conecuh was founded in Evergreen, Ala., in 1947, and the new facility will create 110 jobs in Andalusia. The second plant is needed to meet increasing demand for the company’s products, which are sold online and in local grocery stores, national retailers and through independent distribution.

Owners John Crum Sessions and his son John Henry Sessions, said in the governor’s announcement that the opening of the new facility makes their long-term vision a reality. After researching expansion locations in the Midwest, Conecuh chose to build its new plant in Alabama, the announcement said.
