Tyson Foods Completes Williams Sausage Acquisition

Tennessee sausage processor adds capacity and new brands to Tyson’s Prepared Foods business.

Tyson Foods has closed on the acquisition of Union City, Tenn., processor Williams Sausage Company Inc., according to a company release. The acquisition was announced in February, and it expands the company’s capacity and product portfolio. It was also announced that Emily Billingsley, daughter of Williams Sausage president and CEO Roger Williams, will be responsible for the company’s operations.

Although a purchase price was not disclosed, reports state that Tyson expected to spend $200 million to $250 million on the acquisition. Williams Sausage brings approximately 500 employees with it to Tyson, producing fresh and fully cooked sausage, bacon, and sandwiches for retail and foodservice customers. It will join Tyson’s Prepared Foods business.
