Trident Seafoods Sells Three ‘For Sale’ Plants, Nears Deal for the Fourth

March 14, 2024
Company had put the facilities on the sales block in December 2023 — buyers found for three of them, and larger Kodiak facility has multiple buyers interested.

According to a local news report and a company release, Trident Seafoods has found buyers for three of the four processing plants in Alaska that it put up for sale in December 2023. The company was close to finalizing the sales of the Ketchikan, Petersburg and False Pass facilities, and multiple parties had expressed interest in acquiring the Kodiak facility, according to the company.

The buyers of the Petersburg and False Pass facilities were not disclosed, but in a more recent release, Trident Seafoods identified Silver Bay Seafoods as the company acquiring the Ketchikan plant. The two companies were engaged in a standard due diligence process and negotiating final deal documents at presstime on this article. The sale was expected to be finalized in April 2024.

Trident Seafoods and the buyers of the other facilities are bound by non-disclosure agreements, a spokesperson told the news outlet originally. Trident put the plants up for sale in the midst of what the company called a refocus of its regional salmon operations. The Kodiak facility is unique in that it operates nearly year-round, processing pollock, salmon, Pacific cod and crab.
