Utz Brands Inc. and Our Home are wheeling and dealing again, with the announcement that Utz has agreed to sell two more processing plants to Our Home, just a couple months after Utz sold the R.W. Garcia and Good Health brands along with three manufacturing facilities to Our Home in February 2024.
In the latest deal, which is expected to close on Apr. 22, 2024, Our Home will acquire the Berlin, Pa., and Fitchburg, Mass., plants and related assets for $18.5 million. Following the closing of the transaction, Our Home will co-manufacture certain Utz products for a designated period of time, and the company expects to grow the facilities and offer employment to the current Utz workforce at the plants.
“We are thrilled to announce this acquisition from Utz as it further scales Our Home’s snacking platform and manufacturing footprint, providing us the ability to manufacture potato chips, puffed snacks and popcorn across our better-for-you brands,” said Aaron Greenwald, founder and CEO of Our Home, in a statement in the release.
For Utz, CEO Howard Friedman called the transaction a positive step as the company focuses on optimization efforts and investment into its remaining facilities. The snack processor operates eight processing plants, down from 16 in 2021.
With these two plants on board, Our Home will have seven processing facilities across the country, the company said.
