Location Awareness now has social distancing

The company's Location Awareness technology has been upgraded to include social density management and contact tracing to protect employee health and help essential industries safely continue operations during the pandemic. Part of its Plantweb digital ecosystem, it uses WirelessHART to combine wireless infrastructure and user-friendly software to help companies set up and maintain virtual perimeters and improve personnel visibility. It can create a geofenced zone to minimize gathering of personnel in a certain area, assign a rule of a maximum number of people allowed in that zone and trigger an alert when the maximum has been surpassed. It also generates records or reports of personnel movement in the facility if needed for contact tracing. Emerson Automation Solutions

NSF-approved potable water solenoid valves

ODE’s National Sanitation Foundation- (NSF-) certified lead-free brass-bodied water valves are well-suited for food- and beverage-grade potable water applications for products designed for human consumption. Two types of valves are available: direct acting and pilot control. Both are two-port, two-position, normally closed. Direct-acting solenoid valves with G1/8 or G1/4 port sizes are NSF-/ANSI 169-certified for use in vending and other potable water applications and where minimum operational pressure is not required. Maximum operating pressure is 580 psi. Solenoid valves with pilot control are NSF-/ANSI-/CAN 61-certified for use with water and other compatible fluid applications. A minimum operational pressure of 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) is required. AutomationDirect

A greener package

PaperSeal packaging technology can be part of your company’s green packaging alternatives. A global collaboration between G. Mondini and Graphic Packaging International has resulted in trays with renewable fiber sourced from sustainably-managed forests and employing a variety of striking, innovative designs for retail presentation. Each tray utilizes 80-90% paperboard and 10-20% film, depending on tray dimensions - dramatically reducing plastic use and limiting base tray waste to just 2%. In addition, the tray film liner is easily separated from the paperboard after use, allowing for the paperboard portion to be recycled. A unique reinforced, one-piece flange design makes sealing surface strength and consistency equal to traditional plastic trays, as well as facilitating automated paperboard de-nesting. Harpak-Ulma

Cleated incline slider-bed trough conveyor

This stainless steel-constructed cleated incline trough-style belt conveyor is designed to transport product waste to a customer-supplied hopper. The 24-in.-wide belts feature 2-in.-high flights every 8 in. that capture and incline the debris up to 50 in. on the incline. The product releases through a series of discharge chutes — one initial chute and a requested secondary chute. Reducer drip pans catch foreign product from contaminating the floor. Overlapped pans are hooked on for easy removal and cleaning, with a separate drip pan placed at the base. Simple hand valves control the clean-in-place (CIP) spray system. Multi-Conveyor LLC

Industrial dust collector

The Gold series X-Flo (GSX) industrial dust collection system collects airborne dust particles to provide a clean work environment and prevent cross-contamination of food products. The system is suitable for dry food ingredients such as coarse grains, fine spices and additives, as well as sticky dusts such as sugar and whey. It can collect toxic, nuisance and combustible food dusts, including fine, fibrous and heavy dust loads. It can capture food dust at its source using stainless steel pickup hoods at each production station or by directly hooking to batch mixers or high-velocity slot hoods behind weigh stations. Camfil Air Pollution Control

Control and automation system

CONiQ Control is a flexible control and automation system for use in industrial measuring, weighing and automation technology. The common controller platform can be used for a variety of processes. The hardware and software components are optimized with regard to user interface, connectivity (IIOT), configurability and calibration capability. The system features a touch control interface that guides users through tasks intuitively, simplifies and accelerates operations and allows short training times. Access to the control unit is available using Ethernet or WiFi connections. The web-based user interface also enables operation via mobile devices. Both hardware and software are modular and can be combined to suit relevant applications. Schenck Process

Sanitary gummy filling system

The high-speed, sanitary gummy filling system can fill up to 180 containers/min. It integrates with a variety of multihead weighers and comprises a rotary filler and proprietary gummy streaming technology that helps stream gummies one at a time to fill bottles of various sizes accurately. Multiple proprietary streaming mechanisms work together. First, gummies are deposited from a multihead weigher into a slide ring pocket with dividers to ensure the gummies are separated for streaming. Next, gummies are streamed into funnels by a slide plate. Finally, any smaller product clumps are separated by a funnel baffle that prevents bridging before gummies are deposited into the container.
