Michael Rogers Promoted to FDA’s Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs
Michael Rogers, a 32-year FDA veteran, has been promoted to Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs (ACRA), part of FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA).
Rogers’ experience in the agency includes 28 years with ORA, advancing from his very first position as an Investigator in the Baltimore District Office, then as a Supervisory Investigator, conducting domestic and international inspections in multiple program areas. He’s also the son of a former ORA district director.
He gained important global experience as Regional Director for the FDA’s Latin America regional office. Stationed in Costa Rica, he oversaw products produced in 44 countries and territories in Latin America and the Caribbean that were destined for the U.S. market.
“Michael has worked with foreign governments to develop international agreements, led numerous national and international investigations, and supported responses to public health-related emergencies, as well as natural disaster recovery efforts,” an FDA announcement said. “He has conducted domestic and international inspections as an investigator and as a supervisor, and has experience inspecting high-profile clinical trials, animal testing facilities, pharmaceutical companies, food facilities and large blood banks.”
