Feb. 19, 2007
The new shape of Butterfingers are a fast, portable snack, according to our panelist of 8th graders.

If you have a new product you want to test on our 7th- and 8th-grade panelists, contact Diane Toops at [email protected], or (630) 467-1300, ext. 321.

Butterfinger Stixx, Nestle USA Inc.; Glendale, Calif.

Kellan Hanrahan, 8th grade:
The packaging is simple but useful. It's not flimsy enough that the stick will break and not too big. The stick smells like peanuts and tastes just like a Butterfinger (candy bar). The texture sort of resembles a salt-covered pretzel. People could definitely use these as a fast snack, so there is a great need for them.

Amber Cooley, 8th grade:
The package is appealing because of the way it describes the product and how it looks. The Stixx taste like peanut and chocolate. They are crunchy and the filling is smooth. I think the product is just right and doesn't need any changes.

Billy Prout, 8th grade:
The taste is better than a regular Butterfinger. The texture is not really pleasing because it looks like a stick. There is a need for this because you can take it on the go. In all, it is a good product.

Jessica Shatkin, 8th grade:
The package is metallic and stands out. When you open it, you get a tasty whiff of chocolate. The first bite is really good. It tastes like a Butterfinger; except it is more appealing because of the way it is shaped.

Jessie Powell, 8th grade:
The packaging is very easy to open. It tastes like peanut butter. It is in a circular shape and very easy to bite into. It smells like chocolate, too. The package is very small, so you could stick it anywhere when you are on the go. It's crunchy when you bite into it, but it's not too hard --- rather smooth and hard.

Tyrone Spears, 8th grade:
Butterfinger Stixx are chocolaty and crispy on the inside. It has milk chocolate on the outside and orange-colored filling on the inside, and the texture is appealing. Also, the chocolate melts in your mouth.

Nicole Henry, 8th grade:
The packaging is very easy to open for this on-the-go bar. The taste is very nice; it like melts in your mouth. It's not too thick, and it smells like peanut butter. It really doesn't need anything. Everything's fine.

Jack Grant, 8th grade:
The chocolaty outside is delicious. As I made my way into the middle of the stick, it got even better. The stick is in a compact form with a shiny wrapper, which glows in the sun (like Jessie's bag). I love them.

Brianne Brownlee, 8th grade:
The packaging is OK because it still looks like a regular Butterfinger. It's convenient to fit in your pocket. It tastes peanut buttery with its milk chocolate and filling. It's bumpy hard and has a smell that makes you want to eat it. I think it needs peanuts and more chocolate and it would be great.

Joshua Sanders, 8th grade:
The packaging is convenient, yet not as appetizing. It's not easy enough to understand the product. The treat tastes chocolaty, crunchy and melts in your mouth -- a very delicious snack.

Connie Brisette, 8th grade:
The packaging for this product is appealing, and it looks like you can take it on the go with you. The texture is smooth and creamy.

Matthew Foster, 8th grade:
The packaging is an odd color and there is not much to catch your eye. The candy is not sweet enough and has a weird aftertaste and smell. It needs more peanut butter flavor to it.

Simone Dec, 8th grade:
It's in a good wrapper with a picture of the candy bar inside. It is amusing, and the taste is delicious. The texture is kind of rough and soft at the same time. It doesn't need any changes.
