Tommy Thompson, outgoing Health and Human Services Secretary, warned President George W. Bush that the nation’s food supply is under threat from terrorism, reports Associated Press. He expressed surprise that terrorists had not attempted an attack on the food supply; “It’s so easy to do,” he said.President Bush’s response: “We’re a large country, with all kinds of avenues where somebody could inflict harm,” adding that his administration continues to work hard to lessen the threat.Mark McClellan, internist and economist who previously headed the FDA, is the top candidate to succeed Tommy Thompson as head of Health and Human Services, reports The Wall Street Journal.
