Cincinnati-based AdvancePierre Foods on Feb. 13 said it will acquire the manufacturing assets of Better Bakery LLC, a Valencia, Calif.-based manufacturer of premium stuffed sandwiches. Production will be relocated to AdvancePierre’s facility in Caseyville, Ill., a sandwich manufacturing operation the company acquired last month from Landshire Inc.
President/CEO said John Simons said AdvancePierre already is the leading provider of sandwiches for lunch, dinner and snacking and looks "to close the gap between AdvancePierre and the leading breakfast sandwich brand.”
Better Bakery produces stuffed sandwiches and other licensed products including Pretzel Melts, Skinny Melts and Breakfast Melts. It was founded in 2010. CEO and co-founder Bryan Freeman will continue at AdvancePierre as vice president of premium and natural handhelds.
