Food Processing Top 100-ranked company, PepsiCo, is promoting several executives as Tom Greco prepares to step down as CEO of Frito-Lay North America, says a report in Reuters. Al Carey, CEO of North America Beverages, will move up to CEO of North America, and Vivek Sankaran has been promoted to president and COO of Frito-Lay North America. Kirk Tanner becomes COO of North American Beverages. Both Tanner and Sankaran will report to Carey.

"Tom has been a strong and valued leader inside PepsiCo for more than three decades, and has made lasting contributions to our business," said Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, Purchase, N.Y. "He is leaving PepsiCo to pursue his long-standing career goal of being CEO of a company outside our industry. He leaves F.L.N.A. in great shape."

In his new role, Carey, a 23-year veteran of PepsiCo, will oversee North American Beverages, Frito-Lay NA and Quaker Foods North America. The company said bringing its three North America businesses under a single leader is expected to enable it to further leverage its complementary brand portfolio across snacks, beverages and nutrition to unlock new growth opportunities.

Tanner is a 24-year veteran of PepsiCo, with experience across snacks, beverages and foodservice. He will lead all aspects of PepsiCo’s beverage business in North America. Tanner has worked in 11 domestic and international locations during his PepsiCo career, and held numerous leadership roles across sales, operations, customer marketing, distribution and channel development.

Sankaran joined PepsiCo in 2009, and has held senior leadership positions spanning snacks. He will now lead all aspects of PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay snacks business in North America. Prior to joining PepsiCo, he was a partner at McKinsey, where he advised Fortune 100 companies with a focus on retail and technology.

"Al, Kirk and Vivek are three seasoned and successful leaders who are ready to take on increased responsibility," Nooyi said. "They have each played an important part in our recent success and bring unique strengths to their new roles. I have every confidence that they will build on our progress and continue to propel our business forward."
