Beyond Meat has hired two executives from Tyson Foods to run its operations and manage its supply chain.

Doug Ramsey, a three-decade veteran of Tyson, will serve as Beyond Meat’s chief operations officer. Ramsey’s experience at Tyson included handling its McDonald’s business, which is potentially valuable to Beyond Meat. The plant-based meat analogue company has a three-year deal with McDonald’s, as well as Yum Brands, the parent of Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Ramsey replaces Sanjay Shah, who left in September after less than two years.

Bernie Adcock will join Beyond Meat in the newly created role of chief supply chain officer, reporting to Ramsey. Like Ramsey, he is a Tyson veteran of three decades’ standing, with the current title of chief integrated supply chain officer.

Tyson had invested in Beyond Meat, with a 6.5% ownership stake at the company’s initial IPO filing in November 2018. But it sold that stake in advance of the actual IPO amid reports of tension over conflicts with Tyson’s own plans to market analogue protein products.
