Kellogg Co. has gone to court to complain that picketers at its plant in Omaha, Neb., are harassing and intimidating replacement workers.
The suit is the latest development in a strike that has gone on since Oct. 5. All four of Kellogg’s RTE cereal plants in the U.S. are being struck, and negotiations have bogged down.
Kellogg said in the lawsuit that union have been physically blocking the entrance to the Omaha plant and verbally harassing staffers who try to enter, including threats that one individual’s family would be harmed while he was working in the plant.

In a video posted to Kellogg’s website, Ken Hurley, head of labor relations, said that the union is being unrealistic. “We have made every attempt to build a bridge toward a new agreement, but those efforts are met with rejections and more unrealistic demands,” he said.
The disagreements are over a two-tier structure for wage and benefits, exporting of jobs outside the U.S., concessions on benefits and other issues.
