Utz Makes Changes in C-Suite

Utz Brands has made some moves in its C-suite, promoting its CFO to the new position of chief operating officer.

CFO Cary Devore, who has been with Utz since 2016 and served as CFO since 2019, will take the newly created COO position effective Oct. 4. He will be replaced as CFO by Ajay Kataria, currently executive vice president for finance and accounting. Kataria has worked for Utz since 2017, with previous experience at Chobani and PepsiCo.

In addition, Jim Sponaugle has been named executive vice president and chief people officer. He is currently senior vice president of human resources and personnel development.

Utz, whose savory-snack brands brands include Zapp’s, On the Border and Boulder Canyon, went public in August 2020. It reported $269.2 million in revenue in the last quarter, with a net loss of $23.3 million.
