Believer Meats has announced three new executive appointments, according to a release from the Chicago-based cultivated meats company.
Heather Hudson will become Believer’s chief product & growth officer; Frida Grynspan will be chief science officer; and Marc Shelley will be the new chief legal officer. The trio joins the company at what Gustavo Burger, CEO of Believer Meats, calls “an exciting inflection point as we enter a new phase of our commercialization in 2024.”
Hudson brings more than 20 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies as well as startups in food, food tech and ag tech. She has led teams in food science, product development, sales and marketing at various stops in her career, including Kraft Heinz, Bumble Bee Foods and Pairwise. Hudson will work out of North Carolina, near Believer’s new commercial-scale facility in Wilson.
Grynspan earned her Ph.D. in chemistry and biochemistry from the Univ. of Illinois-Chicago and completed post-doctoral research and work as an instructor and biochemist at the Harvard Medical School. Most recently, Grynspan served as the head of Lonza’s Collaborative Innovation Center in Haifa, Israel, overseeing all operations and development of new technologies related to mammalian protein cell expression.
Shelley is joining Believer Meats after spending more than five years at Anheuser-Busch InBev serving as global director of litigation & risk management. Previous to that, Shelley was a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, having spent more than a decade working there, including seven years based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Hudson, Grynspan and Shelley will assume their new positions effective immediately.
