Green Giant, the iconic vegetable brand that B&G Foods Inc. purchased from General Mills in November 2015, is rolling out Green Giant Baked Beans. Slow-cooked to perfection in traditional iron pots and brick ovens, the new beans come in Original, Maple, Vegetarian and Country Style varieties. A 28-oz. can has a suggested retail price of $1.99.
Last fall the brand rolled out its first innovations under the new ownership. All frozen products, the new items provide a fresh take on traditional side dishes. The Veggie Tots are an alternative to potato tots and French fries. Varieties include broccoli, cauliflower, and broccoli and cheese. The Riced Veggies are made from 100 percent vegetables and with no sauce or seasoning. These veggie alternatives to traditional rice have 70-85 percent fewer calories per serving than prepared white rice. Varieties are cauliflower, cauliflower and broccoli, cauliflower and sweet potato, and cauliflower medley. There’s also Mashed Cauliflower in three flavors: original (with olive oil and sea salt), cheddar & bacon, and garlic & herb. Last are Roasted Veggies. These items contain no sauce or seasoning. Varieties are broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, corn and cauliflower.
