The Good Bean Inc. opened for business in September 2010 with a line of first-to-market All-Natural Roasted Chickpea Snacks. Two years later the company introduced Fruit & No-Nut Bar, a concept that relies on high-fiber, high-protein chickpeas for crunch. The company continues to innovate and this year is rolling out Bean Chips with Sweet Potato + Quinoa.
Retail sales data suggest that much of the growth in the “vegetable and fruit chip” category is spurred by bean chips, which have more protein and fiber than rice, wheat or corn. The new gluten-free chips rely on a power-protein blend of chickpeas, navy beans, red lentils and pea protein. For a healthy, tasty twist, the company added superfoods quinoa and sweet potatoes to the recipe. Bold flavors further set these chips apart in the competitive good-for-you chip category. Varieties are: BBQ Bacon, Nacho, Jalapeno Cheddar, Sea Salt and Sweet Chili.
“Beans are an amazing ingredient, because they’re packed with protein, fiber and real nutrition, but can be transformed into crunchy chips that rival the taste and texture of the best tortilla chips out there,” says Sarah Wallace, co-founder.
