Treasure Cave Crumbled Blue Cheese now comes in four flavors: Chipotle Pepper, Southeast Smoked, Southwest Chipotle and Black Bean, and Zesty Buffalo Wing. Developed and marketed by Saputo Cheese USA Inc., the new flavored crumbled cheeses come in either 4.5 or 5.0-oz. plastic tubs and are designed to be merchandised in the self-service deli case with other premium and specialty cheeses.
The Chipotle Pepper variety is blue cheese infused with rich notes of hickory smoke and a zesty blend of onions and spices for a south-of-the-border taste sensation. Southeast Smoked is packed with the rich, slow-cooked taste of natural smoke flavor, while Southwest Chipotle and Black Bean combines hints of garlic, green pepper and onion. And last, but likely the most traditional flavor combination, Zesty Buffalo Wing was inspired by the perennially crowd-pleasing appetizer. It has a cool taste sensation with the power and punch of buffalo wing sauce.
A single serving is about a fourth of a cup, or 28g, and contains 100 calories and 8g of fat. The company says the cheeses are great toppers for chili, salad and soup. They can also be combined with cream cheese and sour cream for dips and sandwich spreads. The suggested retail price is $3.99.
