At the 2005 FMI Show, Vitalicious introduced a 100-calorie brownie that is low in fat and high in nutrients. Each 2-oz., vitamin-fortified Deep and Velvety Chocolate VitaBrownie contains 6 grams of fiber and the same amount of protein as a tablespoon of peanut butter (4 grams). "We took the brownies and muffins Americans love and got rid of excess fat, sugar and calories, replacing them with essential nutrients and wholesome ingredients to satisfy cravings and nourish both the mind and the body," remarks Aryeh Hecht, Vitalicious president and CEO.The company offers an eye-opening comparison: The VitaBrownie has less than half the calories, half the total fat and one-half to one-third less saturated fat than most popular energy bars and sports bars. The kosher-certified product contains neither cholesterol nor artificial additives or preservatives. The individually wrapped brownies come four to a box; suggested retail price is $5.49. The product will be distributed nationally beginning this month via conventional and specialty supermarkets and natural foods stores.
