Food Service Specialties expanding Minnesota plant

Privately-held sauce maker, Food Service Specialties (Red Wing, Minnesota) is preparing to expand its private label pizza and pasta sauce manufacturing plant in Red Wing, Minn. To meet growing custom product demand, the company plans to add about 20,000 square feet of additional manufacturing and warehouse space to the existing 38,000 square foot facility, which is located about 40 miles southeast of Saint Paul.The project will increase finished product storage space, and the installation of a new production line is also included in the work. The company selected local general contractor, Red Wing Construction (Red Wing, Minn.), as the prime contractor for the job. Construction is scheduled to get under way in late April 2005, and be completed by the Fall 2005Food Service Specialties makes more than 120,000 pounds of 30-plus custom products annually for restaurants and businesses around the country. Products include custom recipes, tomato sauces, salsas, and dressings. The company is starting to venture into selling jar products. The company was also recently honored by the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce with the Manufacturer of the Year award.
